The filler bottle holds exactly 2 oz. of alcohol fuel. A typical meal uses 1/2 oz. of fuel, a cup of coffee, 1/4 oz. Filling the Pocket Stove from this handy, non spill, clear filler bottle allows you to accurately measure your fuel pours. 1/4 of the bottle, for example, equals 1/2 oz of fuel so you can easily judge how much fuel you're using on your trip.
The pocket stove will hold 2 oz. of alcohol fuel, the entire contents of the filler bottle. However fuel efficiency is increased with smaller, measured pours of 1/4oz - 1/2oz (see field notes). Smaller pours allow longer burn time for your fuel. Alcohol has less surface tension than water and it easily dribbles from larger containers during a pour. Filling the Pocket Stove from a larger fuel bottle can be a dreadful waste of fuel. Instead the fuel can easily be transfered to the filler bottle where it will not leak when used to fill the Pocket Stove. The filler bottle is an excellent tool for managing your fuel supply. |
